Be Clear On What You Want

Before you start your hunt for a new car it pays to be very clear in your criteria and what you are really looking for in your new car. It is easy to get carried away by the photos in the used car classifieds but if you get caught up in buying a car without thinking you may end up with a dud – not a good idea on such an expensive purchase.

Budget is obviously one of the main criteria, but within the set budget you can usually find so many different types of cars. You have to decide roughly on the maximum miles on the clock that you can accept. Whether it has to be in pristine condition or whether you are looking for reliability over looks.

A prime factor is also manual or automatic, as is diesel or petrol. The size of the car is also extremely important, especially if you have kids or pets to consider.

The type and horsepower of a car can make a huge difference, as higher powered cars can mean exorbitant insurance bills. You also must not forget the miles per gallon for fuel bills.

At the end of the day you will probably choose a car that you feel good in, but this is not a problem as long as it fits your main requirements.
