Career in SalesMany people naturally gravitate towards a career in sales. They tend to be a very specific type of person who loves the thrill of making a sale and the adrenalin of closing the deal. Whether their chosen area is Vauxhall car sales or kitchenware, or the higher prestige sales jobs such as aircraft components or high-end medical components, the character of a sales person is often basically the same. They are first and foremost persuasive (or at least the successful ones are!). they really have the gift of the gab and love to talk. Whether this is at a market stall or running a presentation for high level management the technique is often the same. They are also persistent. Sales people receive a lot of knocks and they have to learn to be thick-skinned and ready to get back out there. If they are close to making a sale, they will not let go till they have closed the deal and signed the contract. Sales people tend to be bullish, often to the point of aggressive, and very-hardworking. If working on a commission basis they will work all the hours necessary as many are very motivated by money. Getting into a good sales position is not easy and you have to take the rough with the smooth but for many people it is an excellent and rewarding career. |
